ABOUT DODIE

As a young child Dodie was a vibrant and creative force.  Like so many of us, Dodie found that vibrancy began dull as she grew older.  A pivotal moment came when Dodie was observing two young girls dancing at an outdoor community event. Realizing that she too had the impulse to dance but heard those familiar voices in her mind stopping her. It was soon after that she came to realize that her mind had imprisoned her body.  That recognition became the key to her freedom. Since that time Dodie has found freedom in dance and finds it to be a rich source for healing, inspiration and growth.  She is certified in Journey Dance and Shake Your Soul - Kripalu YogaDance.  Dodie continues to study dance and finds great inspiration in Soul Motion founder Vinn Marti and in 5 Rhythms founder Gabrielle Roth.  Dodie holds space with her husband Brian who DJ's her events.

Dodie's greatest strength is that she stands firmly in the foundation of her own feet.  Grounding her teachings in the values that she holds dear. Presence. Listening.  Acceptance. Meeting people where they are. Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.  That we are precious just as we are. Striving to bring greater connection to all aspects of self and to all that surrounds us.  Never judging.  Deeply respectful for the sensibilities and timing of others, recognizing that we are our own best teacher.  Spaciousness is big. The space to sing your song, to breathe and come to know yourself.  Slow down she says, taking concepts to their most basic levels and building from there.  Similarly she believes there is raw beauty in simplicity. With her values as her foundation, she boldly weaves together the teachings that surround her.  The teachings of the dancing greats, and those of the great souls she encounters everyday. From the children in the playground, to the wise elders. She looks to all that surrounds her and asks, "what are you here to teach me?"  No discipline is off limits as she uncovers the gems from their teachings, spinning it magically into a danceable enquiry.  Yoga, poetry, experiential anatomy,  cultural traditions. She looks to all things.

She has come to believe that it is the imprints of our steps that are our legacy.  With that, she dances her dance anywhere, anytime, with truth, pride and abandon as a shining example for others to do the same.
